Tournament Director Andrew Mize has released the details of the 3rd Annual Weaver Cup Golf Tournament, and they sound like it’s going to be a doozy of an event.

Here’s what we know at this writing.

Event date: Saturday, Aug. 23

Registration begins at 10 a.m., shotgun start at 11 a.m.

Bowdon Golf Course, Macon

$50 per player, payable day of the event

Deadline to sign up is Aug. 12

The event will consist of 2-man teams, Lauderdale match play event (i.e. a 2-man scramble).

This event will incorporate both World Cup and Ryder Cup styles of play.

12 countries will be represented. Each country will play for points and will consist of 3 teams. Each country will have an A team, a B team and a C team, depending on skill level. Therefore, when players register they will be asked the player’s name and for their handicap.

Each team will play two nine-hole matches against teams representing other countries. The team that wins the hole wins 1 point. If the two teams tie, each team gets 1/2 point. The country that collectively gains the most points wins the Weaver Cup. Each team member of the winning team will receive a Weaver Cup.

Awards will be given to champions, best dressed country and skills challenge winners.

Bring your friends for a great day in a fun tournament. Email Andrew Mize at Mize12783@yahoo.com with your tournament players and their handicaps.

See you the day of the tournament!

Proceeds from the tournament and other Weaver’s Weekend activities are used by the Friends of Mike Weaver Foundation to support youth sports activities in the Macon area.
