You read that right! Weaver’s Weekend is bringing two blazing-hot bands to Macon for a fabulous night of music at The Crazy Bull in downtown Macon.
Thomas Wynn and The Believers were in town just days ago for Bragg Jam and proved to be one of the festival’s most popular acts. They will open the show with a set at 8 p.m., and then comes The Futurebirds, which have been touring the country. They will be making their second stop in Macon for WW. They were here in 2011 for WW 4 and absolutely packed the joint with their hometown crowd from Athens, and the throng of supporters in Macon.

Thomas Wynn & The Believers

A combination of blistering rock and Southern soul, this is a 5-piece fiery ensemble playing the original music circuit, touring nationally and making believers wherever they go. If you like Tom Petty, The Band, The Black Crowes, CCR and Pink Floyd, you’ll love TW&TB, which is currently on tour with the likes of JJ Grey & Mofro and the Revivalists.
Hailing from a musical family, the sibling-led band is heavily influenced by Thomas and Olivia’s father, Tom Wynn, the original drummer of Cowboy, one of Capricorn Studio’s (Allman Brothers) legendary bands from the 1970s. His influence, as well as their faith and upbringing in church, undoubtedly shaped their songwriting and musical interests. Their deeply rooted upbringing certainly laid the foundation for what the Wynns bring to The Believers’ sound. Thomas’ spirit-moving vocals are uniquely supported by sister Olivia’s engaging and captivating voice and presence. Her strong vocal harmonies and wide-eyed response is the perfect companion to his yearning banshee cries.

The Futurebirds
The Futurebirds, the wildly popular Athens band that appeared at Weaver’s Weekend 4 in 2011, are are an indie rock band formed in 2008. They bring a good crowd and put on a great show!
Their first album Hampton’s Lullaby, was released on Autumn Tone Records on July 27, 2010. Their self titled EP was re-released in February 2011 and their second EP, Via Flamina, was released in April 2011. Their second full-length album is Baba Yaga, which marks a milestone in the continuous evolution of the eclectic ensemble. The 13-song album finds Futurebirds delivering an expansive yet intimate set that takes the band’s trademark mix of earthily accessible songcraft and free-spirited experimentation into inspired new territory.
The Futurebirds are known for their high energy shows and country rock infused sound. Their music incorporates reverb-soaked four-part harmonies supported by pedal steel guitar, rhythmic percussion, banjo, mandolin and acoustic and electric guitars with heavy feedback, and has been described as ‘psychedelic country’. The band has often shared the stage with Widespread Panic, Drive-By Truckers, Dead Confederate, The Whigs, Blitzen Trapper and Jonny Corndawg.
They are veterans of performances at the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee. During summer of 2011 the group toured with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and they were back at Bonnaroo for the festival this past June.
Their appearance at WW6 will be their ONLY show in Georgia this summer. They won’t play our state again until October, so come to Macon and enjoy!

Party-goers at a recent weekend at The Crazy Bull. This venue is still under development, so expect great things for our event in August.
We are very excited to be less than a month away from our 6th Annual Weaver’s Weekend.
All events will be held this year on Saturday, Aug. 24, while the main event — the concert and party — will be held at The Crazy Bull, a new bar and music venue in downtown Macon.
The venue is located at 473 Second Street. While it’s still in development, we’ve reached an agreement with the owner to get the place open for our event!
Yes, there might even be a mechanical bull for the wannabe bull riders!

GOLF TOURNAMENT — We’re calling this the Weaver Cup, and this year we have a new location and a new two-man scramble format. If you don’t have a partner, no big deal, we will pair you with someone the week of the tournament.
The tournament will have a shotgun start at noon on Aug. 24 at Bowden Golf Course in Macon. The entry fee is $50, which will get you range balls, green fees, donations to the foundation and a tourney gift.
The tournament theme will be 1920’s-style Bobby Jones attire. The format will be a 2-man scramble that will be flighted based on handicap. Handicap will only be used to place the team in a competitive flight; handicap will not be used to adjust scores during tournament play. There will be awards for all flight winners and The Weaver Cup will go to the overall winner.
You don’t have to wear long pants, just wear some attire that represents the 20’s style. There will be several contests, including best dressed, closest to the pin and longest drive. We feel that everyone will be pleased with the prizes. Two weeks away from the tourney we will have another update that will reveal all the players and the preliminary flights.
